Christmas Camp Out 2008

Well as most all of you are aware I am the oldest of 7 kids. As you can imagine holidays get pretty crazy, so in an effort to help relaxation at that hectic time of the year...we instituted the Annual Married Sibling Camp Out. We leave a few days after Christmas for 3 or 4 days every year & it's so much fun! As the name implies you must be a married Pope child or the child of a Pope child in order to attend, ofcourse we have made special exceptions such as the return missionaries get to come the year they come home, (Jeff got to come along this year) but only that once! Now some of you may say we're crazy for camping in the winter time, but I have to tell you it is a great time to go. The camp grounds aren't crowded (so we pretty much have run of the camp ground), little to NO BUGS, there are ways to keep your tent toasty warm, and the places we've gone have hot showers & usually heated bathrooms even. As long as there is a place to get warm, I'm GOOD! I digress...this year we went to ALABAMA & had so much fun...as we always do.

We had a great site on the side of a big hill, with the playground right next door and a creek ran inbetween, so cool! The kids had a blast building a dam (which I am sure all the animals appreciated...not!), going fishing, hiking, playing on the play ground, as well as all the traditional camping activities like smores, campfires, hot cocoa, etc. One day we drove north about 45 miles to go see some caverns only to find out they are closed during the winter. Jeremy felt really bad since he was in charge of the expedition, but figured when he called for information about them the park staff might have mentioned that fact!
There was a really cool playground there as well as a nature trail that we utilized instead.

How many Popes does it take to keep Uncle Jeff in the AIR???

We all pretended to be billy goats and hop from rock to rock on the trail, it was pretty funny! Arynn & Aunt Laura are the marshmellow twins......Aren't they CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

After we were done camping we drove on to Castor, LA to visit Mammaw Patti & Popples (Adam's mom & step dad). It's always fun to stay at their house in the WOODS! But the highlight of the trip is always Mammaw Patti's HUGE Jacuzzi Bathtub! Can't leave her house with going for a SWIM!

OK so we went down to spend Christmas Day @ mom & dad's & had a blast! The boys got skateboards & Nintendo DS's. We got to hang with the uncles & play with Play-Dough, first Arynn & then Uncle Jeff!

Arynn got a Baby doll & a puppy (an electronic puppy, the best kind)! We met Aunt Ginny's now soon husband to be, Chris, and played games til the wee hours of the night & had a great time with the cousins!

Ooops! I forgot, should have done Halloween 1st!

I know I just gave the update about Turkey Day....but Halloween should have been 1st, and the kids looked so cute.

A girlfriend from work and I made cupcakes (....lots of cupcakes!) for the class parties @ school. We used spider & skull rings and vampire teeth. The vampire ones were the favorite of all!

Arynn was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (with ruby red shoes and all, see Toto in the basket!) Aidan was the Incredible Hulk & Drew was Count Dracula! We did the whole trick-o-treating thing and the kids got gobs of candy which Adam has enjoyed immensely!

Thanksgiving means Turkey!!!!!!!!!

Well no big surprise we went to my mom's for Thanksgiving. We got to spend time with the family both the local group as well as some extendeds. We played on the play ground while the guys participated in the annual tradition of the TURKEY BOWL.
Uncle Adam Having "FUN" pushing Licoln & Ayrnn on the swings!
Uncle Barry tried to see "How many little Popes can fit into 1 swing" .....no more than 2 for sure, we almost couldn't get them out!
Travis, Aidan, Drew & Tyler just "Hangin' Out" !

Then that afternoon we went to Aunt Karma's for a fabulous feast...and do I mean a feast! With lot's of cousins and aunts & uncles. Alot of fun was had by all!

Ok a post for real

This blog has been created to keep up with the day
to day adventures & antics of my very active family!

We went & did our annual family pictures last week
in preparation of getting christmas cards ready. So I
wanted to share then with you. The kids are getting
so big & it's all happening so fast.

Amber is attending St. John's River Comunity College
on a volleyball scholarship and will be graduating in May
with her AA, then she plans on transferring to FSU or
TCC to persue a nursing degree and then on to be a midwife.

Drew is 7 and in the second grade, he is reading
EVERYTHING! It's really cool to watch the
transformation.

Aidan is 5 and in Kindergarden and is enjoying
"real" school. Both of the boys play soccer & Dad
is the coach so it's a real family affair!

Arynn is 3 and is the resident "Firey Princess"
as her name is true to form. As for Adam & I...
we're just along for the ride, and what a ride it is!
